Loyals to the Le Mans ’cyclosportive or riders looking for new adventures, cyclists will be there for the Shimano 24 Hours Cycling ’s 11th edition. The maximum of 540 teams authorised to take the start has even been reached in a few weeks, between November and January.

2574 riders from 12 nationalities will rush forward the Bugatti circuit on Saturday 24th of August at 3.00pm. 80 riders will face up to the « Dunlop uphill » solitary, but the majority will be divided into teams of 2 to 8 members. From experienced cyclists to Sunday sportsmen, everyone will come to live at his own pace his “24 Hours of Le Mans… by bike” in a joyous and relaxed atmosphere.

Sandy Casar will start the race
Professional rider from 1999 to 2013 with the “Française des Jeux” and triple stage winner on the Tour de France, Sandy Casar will start the race with a “type Le Mans” departure, an emotional moment with all the riders aligned in front of their bikes and the anthem ceremony. He will ride “for fun” in one of the National Police’s teams. The bike amateur and virtuoso pianist, François-René Duchâble will give him the French flag, after a ride on his “piano bike” on the pits’ straight line.

Many personalities will also enjoy the pleasure of a night relay in Le Mans, among them Jérémy Roy (professional rider from 2003 to 2018), who will compete in a team of 4 riders with Shimano France. The event ’s mentor, Roger Legeay (Professional rider from 1973 to 1982 and sports manager of the Crédit Agricole team), will wear the jersey “Je double, je m’écarte” of the French road safety organisation. Sports manager of the Arkea-Samsic cycling team, Sébastien Hinault (professional rider from 1997 to 2014) might ride with him! Holder of the distance record in solo with 590 covered miles in 2017, Evens Stievenart will be in the game after his recent record set in pair on the legendary Race Across America: 3069 miles in more than six days.

For the overall victory, eyes will be turned towards the Socopa team, 2nd in 2018 and 2017, Distinxion Alençon, 3rd in 2018 or the Dutch from Sarto Endurance Team, used to podiums of such endurance cycling race in Europe.

For the non-competitors and families, do not miss the morning event “La Matinale Le Maine Libre”, on Saturday from 10:30am to 11:30am. The schedule has been advanced this year to allow the greatest number, adults and kids, to share a friendly moment in a mythical environment…by bike. More than 1500 people are expected to discover the Bugatti circuit during this one-hour ride. This cyclo-tourist gathering is open to everyone with every kind of bikes. The access is free for accompanied children under 10.

Spectators will have free accesses to the venue and exhibitions proposed in the Village. Dedicated areas will be set up for them on each side of the Dunlop, the perfect place to enjoy the race start. All the ingredients will be gathered to have a great day with the family.
